The PhD Program in Literatures and Cultures of the English Speaking Countries, located in Bologna with a branch in Trieste, was founded by Prof. Alfredo Rizzardi, who coordinated it until his retirement in 2001. Its aim was to mould high profile experts in the field of the Literatures written in English worldwide. Thanks to several contacts with Australian, Canadian, British, Irish, Indian and other European and overseas Universities, the Phd students had the opportunity to spend study periods abroad, in order to complete their researches and widen their horizons.
In 2008 the PhD Program in Literatures and Cultures of the English Speaking Countries became part of a larger PhD program in "Modern, Comparative and Postcolonial Literatures".
Il Dottorato in Letterature e Culture dei Paesi di Lingua Inglese, con sede amministrativa a Bologna e sede consorziata a Trieste, fu fondato dal prof. Alfredo Rizzardi, che ne è stato il coordinatore fino al suo pensionamento nel 2001. Suo scopo era di formare specialisti di letterature e culture anglofone. Grazie ai contatti con università australiane, canadesi, inglesi, irlandesi, indiane e di altri paesi europei ed extraeuropei, gli addottorandi hanno avuto la possibilità di trascorrere periodi di studio all'estero, per completare le loro ricerche e allargare i loro orizzonti.
Nel 2008 il Dottorato in Letterature e Culture dei Paesi di Lingua Inglese è entrato a far parte del più ampio Dottorato in Letterature Moderne, Comparate e Postcoloniali.
